1E Energy Awareness Campaign

Overview

The response to the campaign so far has been very encouraging. It seems that a large number of organizations are interested in cutting their PC energy bills and saving the environment.

Adding momentum to our Energy Awareness Campaign and following our recent UK survey, 1E has now conducted a US survey in conjunction with the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE).

The US PC Energy Report 2007 detailing the results from the research (available for download below) reveals some staggering findings:

  • Out of 104 million office PCs in the US, at least 31.2 million are left on all night.
  • Turning off every work computer in the United States every night would save as much CO2 emissions as taking every car in the state of Maryland off the road.
  • The simple step of shutting computers down each night can save a 10,000 PC enterprise more than $165,000 a year in energy costs. Across the US, this adds up to more than $1.72 billion dollars and almost 15 million tons of CO2 emissions.

The US and UK PC Energy Reports, which can be downloaded using the links below, show the potential savings available by being more efficient computer users.

The NightWatchman® solution from 1E shuts down PCs and closes down applications safely. Large organizations across the globe are already using NightWatchman's proven technology to help meet environmental and emissions commitments.
